Homework
1.
Literacy Map:
For homework each
night please encourage your child to print 1 line of each spelling word and 1-2
sentences using these words. As they are
printing the words they should be making the sounds for each grapheme they
print. When completing their sentences,
students should remember to start with an uppercase, end with punctuation, and
include juicy words (descriptive vocabulary).
Please check your
child’s quiz to see how they did and which words they may need to review.

2.
Reading:
Please have your
child read for a minimum of 10-15 minutes per night. This can be a paper book or Raz-Kids.
If using Raz-Kids, please have your child listen to the book, read
the book, and then complete
the comprehension quiz (independently).
Remember to allow your child time when solving unknown words. Encourage them to use single and double
graphemes, think about what would make sense, use the picture clues, and skip
the word and continue reading to solve the word.
3.Tell
and Show:
Please note that
some weeks we get fairly busy with daily learning tasks and may not have time
to get to every student’s Tell and Show.
If your child is unable to share on their day please reassure them that
they will get to share the following day.
This week, students are doing letter X. Please allow your child to complete this work
independently. Thank you to those of you who have been doing
this already. If you are concerned we
will not be able to read your child’s writing please just scribe underneath
what they have written.
Ask Me About:
Math: My addition and
subtraction quiz. What am I doing
well? What do I need to work on? ---- We encourage student to use counters to
help them “do the math”. We will be
looking at Adding and Subtraction a little more toward the end of May, however
it is good to have an idea of what things that may need a little extra practice
at home.

Daily 5: What did you do
today during Daily 5?
Reminders:
1. Its Crazy Hair Day
tomorrow!!!!!!!!! Wear your craziest
hair!
2. On May 14th our classes
will be going to Bowmont Park. This is
an all day field trip and we are looking for volunteers. Kindly email your child’s teacher if you are
interested in coming along. As well this day is a “fun lunch” day. As we will not be at the school during lunchtime
you WILL need to send a packaged lunch for your child. If a student has pre-ordered a lunch, this
will be given out at the end of the day due to our absence. Sorry for the inconvenience.
3. If you have forms for Multicultural
night, and your child is participating please return them to school this week.
4. Please continue to send in your Boston
Pizza receipts to support our Boston Pizza Fundraiser. When your child brings in a receipt they have
a chance to win a prize!
5. We still need volunteers on Friday
afternoons!
