Homework

1. Literacy Map:

No Literacy Map homework over the weekend.  Homework books will be kept at school for marking and returned on Monday. 

2. Reading:

Practice the Lyrics to our Kindness assembly song at home! https://sites.google.com/site/phonlinebookingsystem/

Read for 20 minutes everyday.  This may be a library book, home reading book, or a book online.  It is beneficial to have your child read their book both silently to themselves as well as out loud.  Ask your child to retell what they have read.

3.Tell and Show:

We will be doing letter Q for Tell and Show next week. Please continue to have your child draw and write independently.  We are amazed at the writing and drawing that students have been doing.  Way to go!  Make sure to colour your presentation as well!

-Adding doubles.... find some doubles to add at home!

Social:

-Take a look around your neighborhood and community.  Can you tell me 2 important things that are in your neighborhood?

Virtue:

-Kindness is our virtue this month.  Four of the Grade 1 classes (Benner, Dalderis, McGivern, Beechey) will be presenting at the kindness assembly on February 20^th.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN7gdw38x-8  

-Kindness Bags! – We have been filling kindness bags all week! 

Music:

-What is the song that Mrs. Mann is teaching that we are going to be singing at the Gr. 1 assembly?  Show me the actions!

Writing:

 -What does a kindness note look like?

Library Cards:

-Each student has been given a Calgary Public Library card.  You may register these cards online.  Kindly check the purple folder if you have not received yours yet!

Reminders:

1      Please sign and return your child’s report card envelope if you haven’t done so already.

2      Multicultural Day is coming up in March.  Students are invited on their own time, to create a poster to represent the event. The theme for the poster is “Voices around the World” Be creative!!!  These will need to be completed before the end of February.
