Homework
1. Literacy
Map:
No Literacy Map
homework over the weekend. Homework
books will be kept at school for marking and returned on Monday.
2. Reading:
Please have your child read for a minimum of
10-15 minutes per night. This can be a paper book or Raz-Kids. If using
Raz-Kids, please have your child listen to the book, read
the book, and then complete the comprehension quiz (independently). Remember
to allow your child time when solving unknown words. Encourage them
to use single and double graphemes, think about what would make sense, use the
picture clues, and skip the word and continue reading to solve the word.
3.Tell
and Show:
There are only a few students
who still have Tell & Show left to share.
Students did an excellent job completing their Tell & Show each
week. Way to go!
Ask Me About:
Grade 1 Assembly:
What
was the topic of the Assembly put on by the other 4 classes of Gr.1?
What
did you like most?
Art:
What
did we do in art?
What
techniques were we using when completing our painting?
What
did you find the easiest/hardest/most fun?
Reminders:
1. Blue Forms: Some students have still not returned the blue form for the Bowmont Park
fieldtrip on Thursday May 14th.
Please ensure these are sent to school ASAP so your child will be able
to attend. Parent Volunteers will
also need to fill out a form, which we will send with your child.
2. Volunteering: We now have
enough volunteers for our Bowmont Park and Heritage Park fieldtrips.
However, both classes still require volunteers for our Birdhouse
Building (June 8th-12:30 -3:00 at the school). If you are
interested in volunteering and have completed/will be completing your Police
Clearance please email your child’s teacher.
3. Canceling “Fun Lunch”: Our May 14th field
trip will be on a “fun lunch” day. It is recommended that you cancel your
child’s fun lunch. If you are unable to cancel the lunch, it will be kept
in the fridge and given to your child at the end of the day. To cancel see
below:
All Orders can be canceled or
deleted as long as it is before the 5 day cut-off. Go to the "My
orders" tab and select "My Up-Coming Orders". You will see all
of your up-coming orders with a "Delete" button to the right. When
you delete an order your refund will be automatically sent to your method of
payment. It will show on your Credit Card or bank account within 24-48 hours.
4. Volunteer
Tea: Please join us in appreciating the wonderful
volunteers at Panorama Hills School. On Tuesday May 26th 2015 from 1:30PM –
2:30PM, we will be hosting a Volunteer Tea in our Gymnasium to recognize and
celebrate all that our volunteers do for our school community. Come and enjoy
some special treats served by none other than our silver service grade 3
Student Voice team! We look forward to seeing you there! Please
return the form that was sent home if you will be attending.
5. The Alex: As
a school, we will be collecting items for The Alex from
May 4-14th. We are collecting items such as: new toothbrushes,
toothpaste, socks, deodorant, etc. Place the donation items into a clean sock
and put the other sock inside. Please bring any items you may
have for donation and hand them into your classroom teacher and we will deliver
the items the third week of May. Thank you for your generosity and
thoughtfulness as we continue to support our homeless youth in Calgary.
6. Real Recyclers
Challenge: WASTE FREE WEDNESDAYS: Classes are
competing to reduce their garbage at lunchtime by bringing a litterless lunch
every Wednesday for the month of May. Winning classes will host the Class
Cup or get a recycled bracelet for championing this environmental challenge!
7. Boston Pizza
Receipts: Continue to send in your Boston Pizza
receipts to support our Boston Pizza Fundraiser. When your child
brings in a receipt they have a chance to win a prize.
