Homework

1. Literacy Map: 

Please encourage your child to print 1 line of each spelling word and at 2 sentences using these words.  As they are printing the words they should be making the sounds for each grapheme they print.  Please have your child edit their sentences to ensure that they have the following: Sentences start with an uppercase and the rest lowercase, end with punctuation, simple words spelled correctly, and include juicy words (descriptive vocabulary).

2. Reading:

Please have your child read for a minimum of 10-15 minutes per night.  This can be a paper book or Raz-Kids.  If using Raz-Kids, please have your child listen to the book, read the book, and then complete the comprehension quiz (independently).  Remember to allow your child time when solving unknown words.  Encourage them to use single and double graphemes, think about what would make sense, use the picture clues, and skip the word and continue reading to solve the word.

Reminders:

1. Heritage Park Field Trip Forms: Please fill these out and return them as soon as possible.

2. Volunteering: Both classes are still looking for more volunteers for our Birdhouse Building on June 8^th from 12:30-3:00pm at the school. If you are interested in volunteering and have completed your Police Clearance please email your child’s teacher.

3. Volunteer Tea: Tuesday May 26th 2015 from 1:30PM – 2:30PM.  Please return the form that was sent home if you will be attending. 

4. Yearbook: Order your 2014-15 Yearbook online.  Login to your CBE account through the link on the Panorama Hills School website.  Click on “Pay Fees.”  Deadline ordering is May 29^th.

5. Multicultural Night: On Thursday, May 28 our community will be gathering for “Many Voices Around the World”, our second annual celebration of the many cultures of Panorama Hills.  As part of the festivities, we will highlight an important part of Alberta’s ranching and farming tradition by joining together in a line dance.  To access the video, please visit the Panorama Hills School blog.

6. Twin Day: Friday June 5th is Twin Day at Panorama Hills School. You and a friend (or even 2!) can dress the same to be twins for the day! You could wear the same colors, same t-shirt, or even have the same hairstyle; the choice is yours. Be sure to ask a friend if they would like to be your twin and show us your best twin outfits on Friday June 5th. 

7. Library Books: All Library books are due back Friday June 12, 2015.

8. Real Recyclers Volunteers Needed: We would very much appreciate volunteers who have police clearance to join us at this year’s Mayor’s Environment Expo at City Hall.  If your child is in the Real Recyclers Club and you would like to volunteer to support us on our field trip on Tuesday, June 2^nd, please contact Mrs. Dorsey at cpchan@cbe.ab.ca. 

9. New School Open House: Please see the school blog for more information about the new school and modular classroom open houses. 

10. Real Recyclers Challenge: WASTE FREE WEDNESDAYS:  Classes are competing to reduce their garbage at lunchtime by bringing a litter-less lunch every Wednesday for the month of May.  Winning classes will host the Class Cup or get a recycled bracelet for championing this environmental challenge!

11. Boston Pizza Receipts: Continue to send in your Boston Pizza receipts to support our Boston Pizza Fundraiser.  When your child brings in a receipt they have a chance to win a prize.
