Thank you to all the parents
who supported us by attending our Grade 1 Celebration of Learning! The students were very excited to share all
of their hard work.
Thank you so much for the
generous gifts from your child. Wishing
you a very happy and fun filled Winter Break!
Homework
1. Please continue to read for 20 minutes
each day with your child over the break.
This may be a library book, books you have at home, or a book
online.
2. Writing is something that you may want to
work on with your child over the break.
All you need is a pencil, paper, and crayons/pencil
crayons/markers. Ask your child to draw
a picture and then encourage them to write sentences about their picture. Remind them that their sentences need to:
start with an uppercase, end with punctuation, and include juicy words
(descriptive vocabulary). If you child
does writing over the break we would love for them to share it when we return
in January!
3. Tell and Show: We
will continue with Tell and Show in January.
We will be presenting letter K the first week back. Remember to allow your child to independently
draw their picture, colour their picture, and write their sentences. It is okay to give your child some support
with writing one or two sentences but give them the opportunity to do at least
one on their own. Thank you for all your
support in helping your child develop as a writer! If you are concerned that we
won’t be able to read it due to the “kid spelling” please just scribe for your
child underneath.
