Homework
1. Please have your child complete 2 lines of each double grapheme with 5 on each line in the blue book labeled Literacy Map.  Your child will now be working in their blue notebook each day at school.  They will then do the exact same printing directly underneath at home for homework.  Please have your child print the word “homework” so that we can easily identify what was done at school and what was done at home.  Please make sure this book comes to school each day.

Tuesday: ow: how, low
                  ou: noun, your, you, young

Wednesday: aw: saw
                         au: sauce

Thursday: ew: threw, few
                    ui: fruit, suit

Please review all the graphemes we have learned this week for the quiz tomorrow.  When practicing for the quiz you can tell you child the sound and have them write it.  For example you would say: ui (oo), ui (u) that we do not use at the end of English words, then your child would record “ui.”

2.  Read for 20 minutes everyday.  This could be a library book, home reading or a book online.  It is beneficial to have your child read their home reading book more than once.  This helps to improve fluency.  Have your child practice “check for understanding.”  They read a few pages, stop, and retell what they have read so far.  If they can’t tell you what they have read then they need to go back and reread.

Reminders
1. Remember to bring your “Tell and Show” duotang to school on your assigned day and be prepared to share.  This week your child should only complete the “Aa” page, sharing something that begins with A.  Try to be creative, we don’t want 42 apples. :)

2. Our Library rotation has started!  Please remember to check your child's library day and ensure their books are returned so that they can take out new ones.  Their library books should be returned to school in their plastic library bag.  Click below to access the library rotation schedule:

3. A note from our PE Teachers:
This week Panorama Hills School was fortunate to have The Heart and Stroke Foundation visit our Physical Education classes. Students learned three important factors that contribute to healthy hearts – Living an active lifestyle involving daily exercise; Eating healthy and balanced meals; and, never start smoking.

Check out our Phys Ed Blog HERE for more information and some questions related to what we learned in Physical Education classes today.

4. Please see the orange handout sent home from the Panorama Hills Community Enhancement Society (PHCES) regarding a Boston Pizza fundraiser.
