Homework
1.
Literacy Map:
We are now starting
again with learning spelling words. We
will continue with the two groups, blue and green. Please check your child’s book to see which
group they are in and the spelling homework.
Please have your child print 1-2 lines of each spelling word and 1-2
sentences using these words. Don’t
forget to include juicy words!!

Tuesday:
did, how, when
Wednesday: which, each
Thursday: Review for tomorrow’s quiz
Friday: Quiz on the spelling words
Blue Group (Mrs. McGivern)

2.
Reading:
Read for 20 minutes
everyday. This may be a library book,
home reading book, or a book online. It
is beneficial to have your child read their book both silently to themselves as
well as out loud. Remember to allow your
child time to solve words on their own before jumping in to help. This time could also include flash card
practice.
3.Tell
and Show:
We are doing letter M
for Tell and Show this week. Please continue to have your child draw and write
independently. Thank you so much to
those who have already been doing this.
You may help your child come up with the object for the specific letter
and talk about the clues. If you are
concerned that we won’t be able to read it due to the “kid spelling” please
just scribe for your child underneath.
Don’t forget to start sentences with an uppercase letter and end them
with punctuation (.?!).
Ask Me About:
Math:
What are the different ways to make a number? (E.g. 5 can be 3 and 2)
How can I draw a picture to represent this?
What is a number sentence to match one of these ways? (E.g. 3+2=5)
Health:
How can I make responsible choices?
What is the correct way to wait in line before coming into the
classroom?
Virtue:
Here is a song related to the virtue of the month. Enjoy!
Reminders:
1. Grade 1 family movie night is
Thursday, February 5th. Order forms have been sent home with your child and
contain all the information. Tickets are first come - first serve so send your
orders in early.
2. Please remind your child that it is
important to bring their library books on their assigned day. If your child misses their library day we are
happy to allow them to change their books on another day.
3. Please ensure that your child is
dressed appropriately for the weather (jacket, snow pants, boots, Hat, gloves). We recommend that you label your child’s
items. This way if they become lost or
misplaced they can be returned quickly to the right owner.
