Homework
1.
Literacy Map:
We are now starting
again with learning spelling words. We
will continue with the two groups: blue and green. Please check your child’s book to see which
group they are in and the spelling homework.
Please have your child print 1-2 lines of each spelling word and 1-2
sentences using these words.
Green Group
(Ms. Beechey):
Monday:
th (grapheme review), this, think
Tuesday:
name, game
Wednesday: came, same
Thursday: Quiz
Friday: No School for Students
Blue Group (Mrs. McGivern)
Monday: little, table, apple
Tuesday: are, were, there, come
Wednesday: house, not, your, said
Thursday: Quiz
Friday: No School for Students
2.
Reading:
Read for 20 minutes
everyday. This may be a library book,
home reading book, or a book online. It is
beneficial to have your child read their book both silently to themselves as
well as out loud. Remember to allow your
child time to solve words on their own before jumping in to help. This time could also include flash card
practice. One of the strategies your
child should be using is to use their double graphemes (ee, th, sh, ar, ch,
etc.) when sounding out.
3.Tell
and Show:
We will be doing
letter N for Tell and Show this week. Please continue to have your child draw
and write independently. We are amazed at the writing and drawing that
students have been doing. Way to go!
Ask Me About:
Math:
What is an addition sign?
What does sum mean?
Language Arts:
What story did we read at snack today?
-What happened first, next, last?
-What did the character learn?
-How is this book tied to our virtue of honesty?
Virtue:
Here is a song related to the virtue of the month. Enjoy!
Reminders:
1. Grade 1 family movie night is now SOLD OUT. There will be no more tickets available to
purchase, any movie order forms will be sent back home. There will be NO
tickets at the door for purchase. We are at capacity for this event.
Thank you for your support.
2. If you would like to come in and
volunteer please email Mrs. McGivern or Mrs. Beechy. We could really use some help with reading
from 8:25-9:00am each morning or at the end of each day from 2:45-3:00pm. Friday afternoons would also be especially
helpful as we usually do art!
